Evidence for Non-Operative Treatment

Morrison et al (JBJS AM, 1997) used PT and medication for 6 weeks consisting of ER/IR exercises and deltoid exercises reporting overall success rate of 67%. Symptoms less than 4 weeks 78%, 1-6 months 63%, greater than 6 months 67%.
Brox et al (JSES, 1999) randomly assigned patients for PT, arthroscopy, and placebo. Surgery, PT, and placebo yielded 68%, 61%, and 25% execellent to good results.
